Kathy Tyers met classical guitarist Christopher Parkening during Parkening’s retirement in Montana, and she and her late husband attended a Bible study at his home. The friendship continued when Parkening returned to performing and recording, and now, Kathy has had the privilege of helping Christopher write a memoir. His career story is punctuated by entertaining fishing tales (he is a world-champion fly caster), and the book concludes with a section of spiritual reflections, a discography, and a sample CD of selections drawn from his GRACE LIKE A RIVER disk.

What happened? Why hasn't Kathy written any new science fiction novels in so long?
During the two years preceding her husband's death, it was impossible to give much thought to worldbuilding, characters, or story lines. After he passed away, Kathy attended graduate school, where she did more reading and studying than mentoring or writing. It was the perfect sabbatical, and it gave her a chance to decide whether there still is a call on her life to write speculative fiction. It looks like the answer is "Yes!"
